Now that the temperatures have officially heated up, there are certain essentials and accessories that every man should have to beat the heat. These accessories include lightweight and functional elements. These items should also reflect your personality and style, while also adding the perfect touch to making your outfit stand out. If you haven’t grabbed a few of these yet, you’re going to want to stock up before the summer is over.
Sunglasses
Because the sun is out a lot longer and a lot stronger, you should have a really good pair of sunglasses that have enough UV protection. According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, effective sunglasses should block 99 to 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays. Your stylish shades should also be able to screen out 75% to 90% of visible light.
Most sunglasses will let you know if they meet these requirements, especially if shopping online. If for some reason you aren’t able to find the description on protection, you can always take your cool new shades to the opticians and they can run a test in a photometer that usually takes about 30 seconds. When shopping for your next pair of shades, make sure the protection is as great as their design. If you’re only investing in one pair for the season, be sure to choose frames that will be able to go with several outfit styles.
Lightweight belts
Summer means linen pants and khaki shorts to keep cool during some outdoor summer fun. Typically to hold these must-have bottoms up, you’ll need a couple of comfortable lightweight belts. Belts such as Lizard Tail Belts should be at the top of your must-have summer accessories list.
If you’re looking for a comfortable belt that allows for flexibility and movement, then you’ll fall in love with this type of belt. This type of belt can go anywhere from the office, to the family picnic, to hiking, and anywhere in between. Other belts that are comfortable in the summer heat also include fabric belts and woven leather belts since they are more breathable.
Hats
Whether it’s a street-style dad hat, a fedora, or a Panama hat, you definitely need to stock up on a few hats to go along with several summer outfits. For example, if you’re wearing a linen ensemble, a Panama hat will go perfectly to complete the look.
If you’re wearing a pair of jogger shorts with a cotton short-sleeve, a dad hat or fitted sports cap is the best to complete the lounge-comfortable style. If you work in the backyard a lot or you enjoy endless summer hikes, investing in a couple of bush hats will keep you dry and in the shade.
No show socks
If you intend to wear boat shoes, sneakers, and any other low-top style shoes, no-show socks are a must for you. Not only do they allow you to avoid tan lines that come from long crew socks, but they’ll also help keep your feet cool.
Because these come in different colors and thicknesses, you’ll be able to find a pair that suits you and your comfort level best. You’ll also want to try them on with the pair of shoes you intend to wear them with so that it’s not uncomfortable or too tight of a fit.
The one thing that all of these items have in common is that they will last you a very long time so don’t be afraid to add more than a few pairs each season.
